Joining the Cleveland Cavaliers or Miami Heat would mean homecomings to the other two teams he played for earlier in his career, while the Golden State Warriors would mean teaming up with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green and going for another ring before retirement.<\/p>\n
Golden State would be quite the full-circle moment for James as well since he faced the Warriors in in four straight NBA Finals when he was a member of the Cavaliers.<\/p>\n
If he went to the Dallas Mavericks, that would mean being teammates with Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving again before the end of his career.<\/p>\n
It isn’t difficult to envision any of those scenarios, but one insider said, “If I was taking the Lakers or the field, I’d take the field. But I’ll take the Lakers over any specific team, especially given they are the one with a clear path to pay him.”<\/p>\n
A Western Conference scout who predicted retirement said, “It just feels like it’s where it’s going to end.”<\/p>\n
Until there is a definitive decision made, it will remain an overarching storyline.
