Since joining the METRONET Byford Rail Extension Project<\/a> in early 2024, FSC Civil has placed Aboriginal employment at the heart of its operations – creating pathways for Aboriginal people and new workforce entrants to build lasting careers in the construction industry.<\/p>\n

Instead of relying only on traditional recruitment methods that favour prior experience, FSC has partnered with Indigenous Management Services (IMS), an Indigenous labour hire company, to connect with Aboriginal candidates keen to begin or restart their careers. This approach reflects FSC\u2019s belief that motivation and potential are just as valuable as experience.<\/p>\n

\nFSC General Manager, Mairead Breen, said:\u00a0\u201cWe are deeply committed to increasing Aboriginal participation across our operations. By offering a wide range of roles\u2014from entry-level to skilled trades\u2014we\u2019re able to provide meaningful employment opportunities to people who may not have had access to them before. Our tailored onboarding system ensures every new hire receives the support they need to succeed, including guidance on company standards, communication protocols and safety practices.\u201d This approach has earned praise across the project.
