Victor Radley<\/a> has broken his silence on his massive 10-game suspension and $30,000 fine from the Sydney Roosters<\/a> due to his involvement in the Brandon Smith<\/a> saga.<\/p>\n

The star forward became involved in Smith’s court case<\/a> – which has been adjourned – after text messages linked him to his former teammate’s drug supply charges.<\/p>\n

Radley has not been charged by police and has not been accused of any wrongdoing. <\/p>\n

While there is no suggestion Radley did anything wrong, the Roosters still opted to hand down the biggest club-imposed sanction in their 117-year history.<\/p>\n

Radley will be suspended without pay for 10 games, while the other financial sanction was used as a donation to St Vincent’s Hospital for cancer research. <\/p>\n

Speaking publicly for the first time since the monster punishment was handed down by the club, Radley told Nine’s Danny Weidler that he felt “embarrassed” standing in front of the hospital alongside Dr. Louise Emmett on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

“I don’t feel like I’ve donated money, I got fined,” he told 9News Sydney<\/p>\n

“I feel like the club have done the right thing there. I’m happy the money is going there, but it’s hard for me to say that I’ve donated it.<\/p>\n

“I just spent 15 minutes inside with Louise and I’m a bit embarrassed here saying I’ve had a tough time because in the bigger scheme of things, I’m fine.<\/p>\n

“I’m gonna cop a sanction and I’m gonna move forward with my life.”<\/p>\n

While he was spared the axe by the Roosters in the end, there were a few nervous days for the 27-year-old local junior, who has spent his entire life in the Eastern Suburbs.<\/p>\n

“There was a few days there where I felt like maybe that would be it,” Radley said.<\/p>\n

“It’s my home and it’s been my home since I was born here, I was raised here.<\/p>\n

“Really difficult few days there, but at the same time as I felt like I might be gone, I felt like they had my back at the same time, it was kind of a weird one.<\/p>\n

“I’m grateful that I’m still here and I look forward to making amends in the future.”<\/p>\n

Roosters chairman Nick Politis<\/a> said earlier this year that the club would be taking a zero tolerance approach to anyone caught with an illicit substance, which Radley was not.<\/p>\n

Radley wouldn’t delve into his conversations with the long-time club boss, but admitted he did apologise to Politis for the “negative spotlight” the saga has brought.<\/p>\n

“Me and Nick have had two meetings now and I think we’ll keep what we speak about behind closed doors,” he said.<\/p>\n

“I definitely apologised for the negative spotlight that was kind of shone on the club.”<\/p>\n

Due to the nature of the suspension dealt by the club, Radley will be more than $150,000 out of pocket and revealed his wedding plans with partner Taylah have been put on hold.<\/p>\n

“My missus isn’t too happy, we’ve canned the wedding – we were meant to get married at the end of next year,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We were organising it, but we’re gonna struggle to come up with it anyway now with how expensive they are. We’ll put it on the back-burner, she was stoked.<\/p>\n

“I will be [in the bad books] in a few days, but she’s got my back for the minute.”<\/p>\n
