Three-time MotoGP championship runner-up Dani Pedrosa says Marc Marquez is most similar to Casey Stoner having seen \u201cthings I wasn\u2019t capable of doing\u201d in both.<\/p>\n
Despite never winning a premier class title to add to his two 250cc and one 125cc championships, Dani Pedrosa<\/a> is revered as one of the best of the modern era.<\/p>\n Winning 31 premier class grands prix and narrowly missing crowns on three occasions, the Spaniard went toe-to-toe with the likes of Casey Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez<\/a> during a glittering career.<\/p>\n The current KTM test rider made a recent appearance on Andrea Migno\u2019s podcast and was asked about the modern day legends he raced against.<\/p>\n He identified Stoner\u2019s ability to instantly adapt to conditions as something that set him apart from the likes of Rossi and Lorenzo, and sees Marquez as having similar qualities.<\/p>\n Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n \u201cI used to see Vale or Lorenzo riding and say \u2018wow!\u2019,\u201d began Pedrosa, who served as team-mate to Stoner and Marquez at Honda between 2011 and 2018.<\/p>\n \u201cBut there wasn\u2019t anything I thought I couldn\u2019t do; maybe not always, because that wasn\u2019t my strong suit.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I did see myself capable. With Stoner, I saw things I wasn\u2019t capable of doing.<\/p>\n \u201cCasey would go out onto the track, practically without knowing whether the circuit turned right or left, with cold tyres and no set-up, and he was already flying on the first lap.<\/p>\n \u201cMarc is capable of seeing the kind of things I saw in Stoner, and doing them.<\/p>\n Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n \u201cHe has the ability to improve in those specific aspects without it penalising him in the areas that are his strengths.\u201d<\/p>\n
