The Gold Coast Suns<\/a> is considering a trade move for Jamarra Ugle-Hagan<\/a>, with the contracted Western Bulldogs<\/a> star’s AFL future still extremely uncertain.<\/p>\n

Speculation has been rife over where Ugle-Hagan will continue his career, if indeed he plays AFL football again, despite the key forward still having one-year remaining on his contract with the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old has been on indefinite personal leave<\/a> this season, leaving many to believe he may have already played his last game in Bulldogs colours.<\/p>\n

Ugle-Hagan was training separately from the team at times during the season but did briefly return to training in June<\/a>. He did not return to competition.<\/p>\n

The last time he stepped onto the field with the team was during the club’s elimination final loss to Hawthorn<\/a> in 2024.<\/p>\n

Ugle-Hagan has already had his exit meeting with the Bulldogs for this season and will remain on a personal management plan that has been devised by the club, his management and the AFL.<\/p>\n

It has not been agreed by the Bulldogs, Ugle-Hagan or his management that the best way forward for his career was to secure a trade deal before next season.<\/p>\n

However, according to Nine’s chief AFL reporter Tom Morris, the Suns are feeling out the potential for a trade deal for Ugle-Hagan.<\/p>\n

Morris reports the Suns are “doing their due diligence” but have yet to meet with Ugle-Hagan.<\/p>\n

Morris added that there are still “quite a few hoops to jump through” before the Suns would be convinced to take the plunge.<\/p>\n

“The Dogs wouldn’t play hard ball if it got to that,” Morris said. <\/p>\n

One factor that could potentially complicate Ugle-Hagan’s move north is the future of Charlie Curnow, who has the Suns as a preferred landing spot next season.<\/p>\n

The Geelong Cats and Sydney Swans are also on Curnow’s radar, although Carlton have so far shown no inclination to allow their All-Australian to leave.<\/p>\n

No official trade requests have been made by Ugle-Hagan, even though he has been linked to a possible move to the Sydney Swans at several points this year.<\/p>\n
