\n\tJohn Boyega<\/a> isn\u2019t holding back when it comes to his thoughts on how the \u201cStar Wars<\/a>\u201d sequel trilogy could have been handled differently.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeaking at Florida Supercon 2025 in Miami Beach, Boyega \u2014 who played former Stormtrooper Finn across \u201cThe Force Awakens,\u201d \u201cThe Last Jedi\u201d and \u201cThe Rise of Skywalker\u201d \u2014 offered a candid take on what he would have done if he had been a producer on the films from the beginning. When asked by an audience member during his spotlight panel what changes he would make to remake the sequels, Boyega delivered a blunt assessment of the franchise\u2019s creative choices.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIf I was a producer on \u2018Star Wars\u2019 from the beginning, you would have had a whole completely different thing,\u201d Boyega said, according to Popverse<\/a>. \u201cIt would be mad. First of all, we\u2019re not getting rid of Han Solo<\/a>, Luke Skywalker<\/a>, all these people. We\u2019re not doing that. The first thing we\u2019re going to do is fulfill their story, fulfill their legacy. We\u2019re going to make a good moment of handing on the baton.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBoyega also took aim at the power scaling of new characters in the sequels. \u201cOur new characters will not be OP\u2019d [overpowered] in these movies,\u201d he said. \u201cThey won\u2019t just grab stuff and know what to do with it. No. You\u2019ve got to struggle like every other character in this franchise. I\u2019d do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBeyond character development, Boyega outlined a different creative approach that would have drawn from the expanded universe of \u201cStar Wars\u201d storytelling. \u201cI\u2019d look to the Old Republic stories and see what we can add to the continuation of that. I would definitely want to see Force Unleashed stories in there,\u201d he said. \u201cI would try to expand the \u2018Star Wars\u2019 universe as much as possible while respecting the lore. If we\u2019re expanding the lore, we have to do it within the respective boundaries that stay true.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor was particularly critical of Luke Skywalker\u2019s arc in \u201cThe Last Jedi,\u201d where the character appeared as a Force projection during the film\u2019s climax. \u201cBut Luke Skywalker wouldn\u2019t be disappearing on a rock. Hell no. Standing there and he\u2019s, like, a projector?
