{"id":166455,"date":"2025-09-24T19:16:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-24T19:16:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/166455\/"},"modified":"2025-09-24T19:16:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-24T19:16:07","slug":"franco-colapinto-alpine-future-update-as-f1-2026-status-remains-uncertain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/166455\/","title":{"rendered":"Franco Colapinto Alpine future update as F1 2026 status remains uncertain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Franco Colapinto has not been given a timeline for a decision regarding his Alpine future yet, but believes he has \u201cmuch more to find\u201d from the car.<\/p>\n<p>Alpine executive advisor Flavio Briatore recently revealed that Colapinto is one of two candidates to partner Pierre Gasly next season, along with reserve driver Paul Aron.<\/p>\n<p>Franco Colapinto to go \u2018race by race\u2019 in Alpine seat quest<\/p>\n<p>While Colapinto is the only driver active on the grid to not have scored a point this season, Alpine\u2019s competitiveness has fallen away as the year has progressed, with all 20 of Gasly\u2019s points having been scored in the first half of the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>In the current in-house battle at Alpine, Colapinto has stood up reasonably well against Gasly in the head-to-head records, trailing the Frenchman 7-4 in both qualifying and race conditions, but he has yet to register points this season.<\/p>\n<p>Several crashes have raised questions about the Argentine\u2019s future with the team, too, having made the move over from Williams at the end of last year.<\/p>\n<p>Alpine is taking its time to assess both Colapinto and Aron, however, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/news\/paul-aron-alpine-simple-goal-race-seat-f1-2026-franco-colapinto-pressure-mounts\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">team\u2019s reserve driver having exclusively told PlanetF1.com<\/a> in July that his \u201csimple goal\u201d is to make it to the Formula 1 grid.<\/p>\n<p>Will Franco Colapinto feature on the F1 2026 grid with Alpine?<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udc49 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/news\/franco-colapinto-reaction-difficult-alpine-f1-period\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Has Franco Colapinto weathered the worst of the Alpine storm?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udc49 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/news\/f1-2026-driver-line-up-confirmed-grid\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">F1 2026 driver line-up: Lewis Hamilton and other drivers already confirmed for 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Colapinto, though, is setting about taking the rest of the 2025 season as it comes, and wanting to be ready for when the A525 is competitive enough to fight in the top 10 again.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if he knows about a timeline regarding his future with Alpine, Colapinto replied on the Beyond the Grid podcast: \u201cNo, I don\u2019t know, and I\u2019m not really focused too much on that.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/news\/f1-2026-driver-line-up-confirmed-grid\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I want to keep building on this year. There is more to learn, and I have much more to find, but I\u2019m feeling better in the car, in the team, and I\u2019m feeling that we are doing a good job together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, it\u2019s no secret that the car is not where we want to be, and it\u2019s not good enough at the moment to win the points, but it will come the time that it is, and I want to be ready for that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo that\u2019s, to me, the main focus at the moment: Go race by race and moment by moment, and let\u2019s see where we end up.
