Across the broader market, losers outnumbered gainers 280 to 264, after 1.8 billion securities worth S$1.5 billion changed hands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">Most key indices in the region ended lower. The Hang Seng slid 0.1 per cent, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was down 0.1 per cent, and the Kospi Composite Index inched down 0.03 per cent. The Nikkei 225 bucked the trend with a 0.3 per cent gain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">Wall Street stocks also declined overnight. Stephen Innes, managing partner at SPI Asset Management, said that traders were unsettled by the \u201ctwin shadows\u201d of US Federal Reserve policy uncertainty and artificial intelligence (AI) fatigue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">He added that Fed chair Jerome Powell\u2019s remarks that equities were \u201cfairly highly valued\u201d was not intended as a warning, but it landed that way. \u201cFor traders already stretched and leaning hard into risk, it sounded like the faint whistle of an official preparing to call time on overexuberance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">Meanwhile, markets are grappling with the question of \u201cwhether the economics of AI can live up to (its) narrative without cannibalising the very companies\u201d that fund it, Innes said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-6 border-b border-gray-250 pb-4 font-poppins text-4xs font-medium tracking-widest text-gray-515\">SEE ALSO<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"block h-full w-full\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businesstimes.com.sg\/companies-markets\/sgx-rolls-out-new-indices-broaden-visibility-listed-companies-beyond-sti?ref=article-see-also\" data-discover=\"true\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"relative z-10 h-full w-full object-cover\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/5cbddf3dff991f997abb1353725431b2ffb6d74e13d8cadd3382f9f49a410456\" alt=\"Constituents of the newly launched iEdge Singapore Next 50 Indices include a diverse mix of companies across sectors such as real estate investment trusts, industrials, financials and energy. \" width=\"2000\" height=\"1334\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">On the STI,  Hongkong Land  was the top decliner. It fell 3.4 per cent or US$0.22 to US$6.30.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\"> Yangzijiang Shipbuilding  was the top blue-chip gainer, rising 0.9 per cent or S$0.03 to S$3.32.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">The local banks all ended lower.
