{"id":168089,"date":"2025-09-25T12:25:06","date_gmt":"2025-09-25T12:25:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/168089\/"},"modified":"2025-09-25T12:25:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T12:25:06","slug":"jorge-martin-marc-marquezs-historic-comeback-a-big-example","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/168089\/","title":{"rendered":"Jorge Martin: Marc Marquez\u2019s \u201chistoric\u201d comeback \u201ca big example\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jorge Martin has hailed Marc Marquez\u2019s 2025 MotoGP season as \u201cone of the greatest comebacks in the history of sports\u201d, describing the Ducati star as \u201ca big example\u201d after his own injury struggles.<\/p>\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1654\/marc-marquez\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marc Marquez <\/a>chosen to join Francesco Bagnaia at Ducati Lenovo, Martin took the number one plate from Pramac to Aprilia.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/973236\/jorge-martin\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Martin\u2019s<\/a> title defence ended before it had even begun, with injuries ruling him out of pre-season testing, then ten of the opening eleven rounds.<\/p>\n<p>The Spaniard later admitted he feared for his life after the Qatar accident, before being drawn into a contractual dispute with<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/teams\/aprilia-racing\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Aprilia <\/a>over 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Finally fit again and having committed to Aprilia, Martin says he draws inspiration from Marquez, who is on the verge of his first world title since 2019 after overcoming several years of arm surgeries and bouts of diplopia.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor sure, it&#8217;s one of the greatest comebacks in the history of sports,\u201d Martin told MotoGP.com. \u201cFor me, I have to say it&#8217;s a big example.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause coming from where I come, being champion, then getting injured, I think having his example can help me to go back to winning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s a historic season, so congrats to Marc.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin and Marquez were later seated next to each other during the delayed 2025 &#8216;class photo&#8217; (pictured), with Martin&#8217;s RS-GP left empty during the opening round photo in Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>Jorge Martin&#8217;s \u201cgreat step\u201d at Misano<\/p>\n<p>Martin is still chasing his first podium of the year, with a best result of fourth at Balaton Park, but left the Misano test optimistic after making big progress with a revised handlebar position.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>However, he warned there is still a long way to go before he can join team-mate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/995158\/marco-bezzecchi\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marco Bezzecchi <\/a>as an RS-GP race winner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the test we did a great step in terms of performance and also I&#8217;m much more comfortable on the bike,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo let&#8217;s see if that work pays off here.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor sure, it is still a long journey until we go back to winning, but I think it can be a good race.
