\n\tNate Bargatze<\/a> says he never planned to donate $250,000 of his own cash to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America after the 2025 Emmys. Speaking on his Nateland\u00a0podcast\u00a0this week, the host confirmed that the ongoing bit<\/a> was intended as a positive thing.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt came from a real place of heart,\u201d he said. \u201cI wasn\u2019t trying to put anyone on the spot. I wasn\u2019t trying to make someone donate money. But in my head I kind of thought, \u2018Make it fun.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBargatze said the bit originated after CBS asked him to come up with a way to keep the acceptance speeches short. He said CBS was \u201cvery happy\u201d with the idea, as was \u201ceveryone at home.\u201d He acknowledged that many of the critics<\/a> didn\u2019t feel the same way. He also didn\u2019t assume that he would be the one on the hook to donate the money. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI wasn\u2019t trying to overshadow any of their speeches,\u201d Bargatze said. \u201cI thought it was gonna be, I don\u2019t know, Netflix donating, or Apple. The shows that won! It\u2019s not like I expected that kid [Owen Cooper] to give money, which I covered for that kid. But I kind of thought that\u2019s what would happen. In my head I pictured it as they could then go long, but then be a hero. So it was like a win-win. And then the night becomes about love and you\u2019re giving to these kids that are there and all this kind of stuff. I don\u2019t know if I just didn\u2019t explain it enough in the room.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added, \u201cI had it in my head one way. It kind of came out another way, but the reasoning was there. I wasn\u2019t gonna give that money at the end. I wasn\u2019t thinking I was gonna have to. But the way it went, I was like, \u2018I can\u2019t \u2014 I\u2019m not gonna\u00a0not.\u2019 And the Boys & Girls Club were awesome. They got it\u2026 I was trying to have a very giving night.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tHe also reflected on being at the Emmys alongside so many celebrities, saying he felt slightly removed from the awards. \u201cIt was crazy, I just wasn\u2019t a part of it,\u201d he said. \u201cEven though I was hosting it. I just wasn\u2019t mixed in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring the Emmys, Bargatze kicked off a\u00a0long-running<\/a>\u00a0(and\u00a0much-maligned<\/a>) bit where money was deducted from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America if an acceptance speech went over 45 seconds. It caused some confusion during the awards show, and many felt it was unfair to the winners, distracting from their moment of triumph on stage. <\/p>\n
