Ryan Papenhuyzen

Scored a vital try, safe in the last line of defence and made over 150 run metres. Rating: 7.5

2. William Warbrick

There were four world-class wingers out there – and he was the pick of them, scoring a try, taking bombs safely and running his team out of trouble. Rating: 8

3. Jack Howarth

Felt the pressure at times in a tense game, making a couple of mistakes early before putting Coates over for the try that sealed the win. Rating: 7

4. Nick Meaney

Combined well with Warbrick, putting him over for the game’s opening try and doing the little things well. Rating: 7.5

5. Xavier Coates

Got few chances until five minutes from the finish, when he got an opportunity… and nailed it to secure a grand final spot. Rating: 6.5

6. Cameron Munster

Came up with two of the biggest plays of the night – a clever grubber for Papenhuyzen’s try and a tackle that denied Nikora over the line. Rating: 8.5

7. Jahrome Hughes

A remarkable display from this brilliant playmaker just weeks after breaking his arm, scoring a fine solo try and marshalling his troops in attack. Stefano Utoikamanu

One of his best games of the season, running hard, providing an offload for a try and hitting hard in defence. Rating: 8

9. Harry Grant

Not as dominant as in some games but gave his usual fine service from dummy-half and created the try that sunk the Sharks. Rating: 7

10. Josh King

Gave his weekly strong shift, nothing fancy but strong and uncompromising up the middle. Rating: 6

15. Shawn Blore

Justified his late elevation into the starting team with a strong running game out wide. Rating: 6.5

12. Eliesa Katoa

The danger man out wide, he made plenty of mileage without actually breaking the line. Rating: 6

13. Trent Loiero

Played his role to perfection, holding the middle together in defence and giving the backs room to move with his ball distribution. Rating: 7

11. Ativalu Lisati

The least experienced player on the field, only made two runs in 23 minutes. Rating: 3

14. Tyran Wishart

Came on to replace Hughes late in the game and didn’t bet enough time to make an impression. Rating: 3

16. Tui Kamikamica

Made a difference when he came off the bench, with his size and strength causing the defence problems. Rating: 6

17. Alec MacDonald

Another Storm bench man to make an impact, keeping the Storm on top in the battle of the forwards. William Kennedy

Showed his class by setting up Katoa’s try but was caught badly out of position when Papenhuyzen scored. Rating: 6

2. Sione Katoa

Scored two exciting tries and got the better of Coates – no easy feat. Rating: 7

3. Jesse Ramien

Created one of Katoa’s tries and ran with power – as he has all season. Rating: 7

4. KL Iro

Youngster with an amazing knack for scoring did it again – albeit all too late – and made over 200 run metres. Rating: 8

5. Ronaldo Mulitalo

Got few chances in the red zone but ran for 160 metres and tried to lift his team with his enthusiasm. Rating: 6.5

6. Braydon Trindall

Strong kicking game but a little down on his ball-playing best throughout the season. Rating: 6.5

7. Nicho Hynes

Ran the attack well but like Trindall, failed to lay on a try and that is where the game was lost. Blayke Brailey

Was seen limping in the warm-up and wasn’t as dangerous out of dummy-half as in the lead-up games. Rating: 6.5

10. Toby Rudolf

Took a heavy head knock early and that seemed to dull some of his effectiveness. Rating: 6

11. Billy Burns

One of the main men in the Sharks’ late season charge, was again strong with a try assist and a couple of line breaks. Rating: 7.5

12. Teig Wilton

Down on his recent form and missed a vital tackle on Hughes when he scored a a vital try. Rating: 6

13. Jesse Colquhoun

A busy player in defence but needs to work on his ball skills over the summer. Rating: 6

14. Briton Nikora

Made a big difference when he entered the arena and unlucky not to score a try as the Storm defence swarmed on him over the line. Rating: 7

15. Siosifa Talakai

His size and strength caused the Storm some problems when he entered the game. Rating: 6

16.
