Sacha Baron Cohen Is Nearly Unrecognizable After Dramatic Body Transformation for Marvel Role originally appeared on Parade.

Sacha Baron Cohen has transformed himself numerous times over the years — from characters like Borat to Brüno Gehard — but his latest takes the [beef] cake.

Ahead of his buzzy role as Mephisto, Marvel’s next major supervillain, Cohen has undergone a dramatic physical transformation that’s already setting the internet on fire.

The 52-year-old actor showed off his nearly unrecognizable physique on the cover of Men’s Fitness UK, hitting newsstands this week, looking every bit the part of a muscular, menacing demon.

Marvel chief Kevin Feigeconfirmed this week that Mephisto will be a key figure in the next chapter of the MCU. So while Baron Cohen made his debut as the character in the Ironheart finale on Disney+, fans can expect much more of him moving forward.

According to Deadline, Baron Cohen reached out to Matthew McConaughey to ask for a referral to a top-tier trainer. McConaughey pointed him to Alfonso “The Angry Trainer” Moretti, who was quick to take on the challenge.

As Moretti shared in the magazine article, Cohen “looked like a ruler, straight up and down. But I also detected an athlete in hiding.”

The actor himself described his physical state at the time as “having the core strength of an arthritic jellyfish.”

Moretti was quick to offer congratulations to Cohen online.

“Sacha trusted my process and followed the plan exactly,” the trainer wrote on Instagram alongside an image of the cover. “Not only did he earn better health and fitness with incredible aesthetics…but also…The COVER of Men’s Fitness!!!”

What started with 100 pushups a day turned into a structured, high-discipline routine tailored to fit around his production schedule. The workouts were short but intense — and consistent. As noted in the article, his diet consisted of high fiber and protein, low sugar.

The changes came so quickly that Marvel’s costume team had to revise his Mephisto outfit more than once to fit his new build, per Deadline.

Speaking to Men’s Fitness UK, Baron Cohen said the shift wasn’t just about aesthetics.

“I believe that just 20 to 30 minutes of movement a day can make a real difference — and it’s something anyone can fit into their routine, especially celebrities with personal assistants to do all the boring stuff like shopping and attending friends’ funerals.”

Baron Cohen is now ready to face off with Marvel heroes in the studio’s next slate of films, which includes two upcoming Avengers installments.

While Marvel has remained tight-lipped on the specifics of Mephisto’s role, Feige described him as “a devil who presents Faustian bargains to hero characters,” leaving fans to speculate just how deeply Baron Cohen’s version will twist the fate of the MCU.
