A man charged with giving a Nazi salute at the AFL semifinal is a former political candidate with a history of posting anti-Semitic and racist content online.<\/p>\n

ABC News can reveal the man charged with the offence is Tylere Baker-Pearce, who in 2020 posted a smiling selfie \u2014 decorated with a flame emoji \u2014 at Auschwitz-Birkenau, a Nazi concentration camp in Poland.<\/p>\n

Mr Baker-Pearce also posted photos of himself grinning outside Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch in 2023 \u2014 one of the sites of the deadly terrorist mass shootings of 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

An ABC investigation has uncovered that Mr Baker-Pearce is one of two Queensland men charged in recent weeks under the Commonwealth offence of public display of a Nazi salute, which is punishable by up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old Pratten man was issued a lifetime ban from the AFL after allegedly performing a Nazi salute during the Welcome to Country and national anthem at the Brisbane Lions and Suns game at the Gabba<\/a> earlier this month.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the ABC revealed another 39-year-old man from Caboolture was charged with performing a Nazi salute at an anti-immigration rally in Brisbane on August 31<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mr Baker-Pearce is a poker player and tourism operator who ran unsuccessfully as an independent in the Victorian state election in 2022 and the Queensland state election in 2017.<\/p>\n

Labor’s Federal Member for Macnamara, Josh Burns, took aim at him in parliament during the 2022 state election.<\/p>\n

“First of all, there is Mr Tyler[e] Baker-Pearce, who in Narre Warren South is running as a candidate. This is a man who has stood outside Auschwitz-Birkenau taking a selfie, smiling and putting a hot emoji on it. He has a long history of vile, anti-Semitic remarks,” he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Baker-Pearce’s social media footprint includes footage of him saying “white power” at his rural property in Pratten and yelling it at the beach on the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n

In 2023, he shared an audiobook of Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler and posted a manual from the Australian neo-Nazi group, the National Socialist Network (NSN), two years earlier.<\/p>\n

In January, he wrote #FreeThomasSewell \u2014 a reference to the Neo-Nazi leader of NSN, who was arrested while making a speech on Australia Day.<\/p>\n

Other posts by Mr Baker-Pearce appear to question the Holocaust, with him writing: “did 6 million really die?”<\/p>\n

In another comment, he wrote that he was recently at “Auschwitz and Birkenau” and had “more questions than answers”.<\/p>\n

Mr Baker-Pearce has also posted a video which appears to show makeshift gallows on his rural acreage.<\/p>\n

“Been working on something for these weimar freaks that embrace degeneracy,” he wrote.<\/p>\n

Online, he has denied being a “Nazi” or a member of any organisation that “possess[es] extremist, communist or socialist views”.<\/p>\n

“I’m simply an Aussie patriot who loves his country & folk,” he wrote on one channel.<\/p>\n

Mr Baker-Pearce has not responded to requests for comment.<\/p>\n
