Now she returns having just claimed the title in Seoul and still full of confidence after her monumental win at Wimbledon<\/a>. The No. 1 seed will take on Yue Yuan in her opening match this week. Who do you think will prevail?<\/p>\n

WTA Beijing Day 4 Predictions
\nElla Seidel vs Marta Kostyuk<\/p>\n

Head-to-head: First meeting<\/p>\n

20-year-old Ella Seidel recently broke the Top 100 and has been winning so much recently, making deep runs from qualifying in Cincinnati and Seoul last week, before already getting three victories under her belt here. She might be running a bit low on steam by now, but the confidence has to count for something. That said, Marta Kostyuk was excellent at Billie Jean King Cup Finals last week and should be able to stop Seidel. For now.
Prediction: Kostyuk in 2<\/p>\n

Sonay Kartal vs Daria Kasatkina<\/p>\n

Head-to-head: Kartal 1-0<\/p>\n

Daria Kasatkina really hasn\u2019t had a memorable season at all, but making the third or fourth round at every Slam has allowed her to remain in a pretty comfortable position in the WTA Rankings. Her win\/loss record for the year is negative and she\u2019s been losing plenty of opening rounds, including to Sonay Kartal at Queen\u2019s Club. The Brit won\u2019t be threatened by the variety that Kasatkina brings to the court, this looks like a close one again.
Prediction: Kartal in 3<\/p>\n

Anastasia Potapova vs Victoria Mboko<\/p>\n

Head-to-head: Mboko 1-0<\/p>\n

Victoria Mboko\u2019s season has been nothing sort of ridiculous, but we\u2019re yet to see how she reacts to that unbelievable success in Montreal<\/a>. During that tournament, she suffered a wrist injury that was still bothering her when she showed up at the US Open<\/a>. If she\u2019s back to serving and hitting properly, she\u2019ll probably beat Anastasia Potapova like in Washington two months ago. But her current level and fitness are under a question mark.
Prediction: Mboko in 3<\/p>\n

Iga Swiatek vs Yue Yuan<\/p>\n

Head-to-head: First meeting<\/p>\n

That win in the Seoul final won\u2019t go down as one of Iga Swiatek\u2019s best performances, but certainly ranks high among the grittiest. That kind of victory takes a lot of mental and physical effort and might drain her tank a little for the rest of the Asian swing. But after six days of rest, the Pole should be fine to at least win a few rounds. And given she won Beijing the only time she played it in 2023, you can\u2019t look past her as the tournament favorite<\/a>. Yue Yuan shouln\u2019t be too challenging.
Prediction: Swiatek in 2<\/p>\n
