\t\t\t\tCARY, N.C. \u2013 The California women’s tennis team concluded its run at the ITA All-American Championships on Friday, with Mao Mushika<\/a> and Berta Passola Folch<\/a> falling in the main draw singles round of 16 and the duo of Mushika and Laura Cilekova<\/a> withdrawing from its consolation doubles match at Cary Tenis Park.

\nMushika and Passola Folch were seeking to qualify for the postseason by winning their singles matches, as reaching the quarterfinal round would have given them berths in the NCAA Singles Championships. Instead, Mushika \u2013 seeded ninth and ranked 17th \u2013 lost 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 to Stanford’s fourth-seeded and sixth-ranked Valerie Glozman, while the 113th-ranked Passola Folch dropped a 7-6(4), 6-0 match to Ohio State’s third-seeded and fifth-ranked Luciana Perry.

\nBERKELEY \u2013 The Golden Bears began play in their annual Cal Fall Invitational on Friday, with sophomore Greta Greco Lucchina<\/a> winning twice to advance to the semifinal round of top-flight singles.

\nPlaying at the Hellman Tennis Complex, Greco Lucchina defeated San Jose State’s Emilija Pranyte 6-2, 6-3 in the opening round of 16 and then beat Madison Weekley of Saint Mary’s 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals to reach Saturday’s semis. Greco Lucchina \u2013 who began last week playing in pre-qualifying singles at the ITA All-American Championships \u2013 will face the winner of the Saturday quarterfinal between Bears Sophie Hernandez<\/a> and Anya Murthy<\/a>. In the first round, Hernandez bested Santa Clara’s TianYu Dong 7-6(3), 1-6, 6-4, while Murthy beat Sacramento State’s Catherine Walker 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-0. Murthy and Hernandez face each other at 10 a.m. PT on Saturday.

\nIn top-flight doubles, Greco Lucchina paired with freshman Millie Johanna Moerk<\/a> to reach the quarterfinals. The Bears had a first-round bye then beat the tandem of Cal’s Sophie Hernandez<\/a> and Elif Gunal of Saint Mary’s 8-3 in the round of 16.
