Kate Chastain<\/a> has quite a bit of experience when it comes to working on yachts. The\u00a0Below Deck<\/a>\u00a0alum and longtime chief stew is more occupied these days by her updates on her Florida home<\/a> and raising her son, Sullivan Cay.<\/a> But, in a time before she settled into domestic life, she learned unique skills during her time as a chief stew.<\/p>\n

Kate spoke with\u00a0Us Weekly<\/a>\u00a0recently, where she opened up about her very special skill. “I think a lot of people would be surprised to know I’m a trained firefighter,” she said. “You have to be.”<\/p>\n

But this isn’t something that Kate did for fun; it’s just part of the job training. “If the boat catches on fire, we are the ones that are supposed to don the fire suits and fight it,” she noted. However, if faced with a fire on board, Kate admitted that she has her own way of handling it. “I mean, personally, I’m getting on the Jet Ski, and I’m getting out of there,” she concluded, jokingly.<\/p>\n

Kate Chastain opens up about navigating difficult charter guests<\/p>\n

Although Kate hasn’t had to put out a\u00a0physical\u00a0fire, she has had to deal with difficult charter guests<\/a>. She recalled one particular group of charter guests that she didn’t enjoy during\u00a0Below Deck\u00a0Season 7. “Season 7 in Thailand, there was a gentleman \u2014 I don’t remember his name because I don’t really like him, but he was your typical frat boy, just obnoxious,” she admitted to the publication.<\/p>\n

“He wanted us all to get in the shower in the primary stateroom, and he wanted to take a money gun and shoot dollar bills at us,” she recalled. “He was entitled and obnoxious.”<\/p>\n

“The only guests that stand out being a negative memory are the ones that were just entitled and impolite,” she added.<\/p>\n

Since putting her Below Deck days behind her, Kate is a busy single mom to her son, Sullivan, who continues to pop up on your favorite TV shows.
