(Dakota News Now) &#8211; Downtown Sioux Falls played host to matches in the ring on Saturday, as a local gym looked to bring the spirit of boxing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-start article-text\">Vargas Boxing hosted its \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/downtown\/downtown-throwdown\/1299238934899059\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/downtown\/downtown-throwdown\/1299238934899059\/\">Downtown Throwdown<\/a>,\u201d an amateur boxing show featuring bouts from local boxers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Many of those in the local boxing scene know each other, and clubs and competitors are coming from around the region. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">They said getting to hold events like these helps build interest in others picking up the sport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cSo when this room gets packed today, afterwards, I\u2019m probably going to shed some tears, because this is amazing. I am so happy that we\u2019re here for it. As soon as I got word that the show was coming, sign us up. Our list got sent right away,\u201d said Sage Lewis with Lobos Boxing Club.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This was Vargas Boxing\u2019s first show, but organizers said they\u2019re hopeful it won\u2019t be the last.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 Dakota News Now.
