Geelong have confirmed its interest to “get a deal done” for Carlton forward Charlie Curnow<\/a> now that the Cats’ campaign is over.<\/p>\n

A Grand Final defeat to Brisbane on Saturday officially kick-started the Cats’ off-season, which could be another busy one on the recruitment front.<\/p>\n

Curnow, who is understood to be keen on a move away from Princes Park, also has reported suitors in Sydney and Gold Coast.<\/p>\n

A Geelong Falcons product, Curnow’s preference is believed to be Kardinia Park and the surf coast of south-west Victoria.<\/p>\n

Addressing the club’s links to the dual Coleman Medal winner, Cats football boss Andrew Mackie<\/a> confirmed Geelong’s interest, but stressed a deal will rely on Carlton’s demands.<\/p>\n

“Ultimately, Carlton have got to be the ones that determine that market, not us,” Mackie told 7 News.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“He’s contracted for four years, and we’ve got to work out if we can actually get a deal done.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We don’t want to drag things out if it’s not possible to (get a deal sorted).”<\/p>\n

The Cats’ 2025 draft hand ahead of the trade period sits with Picks 17, 35, 53 and 71, with their opening selection set to be pushed closer to the mid-20s given the pending additions of free agency compensation and draft bids to the order.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Carlton are tipped to be keen on attaining players, while Geelong have no star players seeking a move elsewhere.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Cats are also in the market for Hawthorn midfielder James Worpel<\/a> as a free agency recruit, and St Kilda ruckman Rowan Marshall<\/a>, who is under contract.<\/p>\n

“How far they go, we don’t know,” Mackie said of his club’s targets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“There’s a couple of players under contract, that doesn’t make it any easier.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 2025 Free Agency window opens on Friday and will run for a week, with the Trade Period running from October 6-15.\u00a0<\/p>\n
