Luke Travers says versatility and defense will be key to earning more Cavaliers minutes in 2025-26.<\/p>\n

Versatile Australian forward Luke Travers<\/a> is determined his ability to defend one through four \u2014 “sometimes even one through five” \u2014 will earn him more minutes in the NBA\u00a0with the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> in the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n

Travers, 24, is entering his second season on another two-way contract with the Cavs, who drafted fellow Australian Tyrese Proctor<\/a> in the 2025 NBA Draft<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve got internal goals I\u2019ll keep to myself, but on the court it\u2019s about showing I fit at this level,” Perth-born Travers said during the Cavaliers Media Day today. <\/p>\n

“It starts with preseason \u2014 it\u2019s going to be huge for me to prove I belong and can thrive at this level.<\/p>\n

\u201cVersatility, especially on defense. <\/p>\n

“I can guard one through four, sometimes even one through five. <\/p>\n

“That\u2019s my biggest strength, and with all the switching in today\u2019s NBA, being able to defend guards and also switch onto bigs is huge.”<\/p>\n

Travers will more than likely spend time with the Cleveland Charge this season but he’s confident and focused on his next steps in a “welcoming” Cleveland locker room.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust continuing to build,” he added.<\/p>\n

“This is my second year now, so it\u2019s always easier being around the guys and feeling more comfortable. That\u2019s the biggest thing for me.\u200d\u200d<\/p>\n

\u201c(Culture), it\u2019s huge. It made it easier to fit in. Moving to the other side of the world is daunting, but spending last year with the guys and continuing to build those relationships has been great. They\u2019ve been really good about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like most hoopers anywhere in the world, Travers said if he had the opportunity to “Space Jam” a skill from any NBA\u00a0player in history it would be: \u201cSteph Curry\u2019s shooting. <\/p>\n

“He\u2019s transformed the game. It\u2019s probably the obvious answer, but for me it\u2019s important. <\/p>\n

“My shot is something I\u2019ve worked on for a long time and still need to improve. Having that ability would be a game changer.”<\/p>\n

And it’s pretty clear where Travers spends his time when not hooping.<\/p>\n
