“Upon arrival, police located a 54-year-old Norman Park woman and an 8-year-old girl, who were known to each other, deceased,” Queensland Police Service (QPS) said in a statement.

“A crime scene has been declared, and investigations are underway into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.”

Police attended the property to perform a welfare check when they found the woman and child.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The ABC understands the woman was a medical specialist.

A spokesperson for Metro South Health said the organisation extended its “deepest sympathies to those affected by this tragic incident”.

The house was listed on short-term accommodation platform Airbnb for over $1,000 a night.

The listing, which has since been removed, described the property as a “relaxing, beautifully quiet” luxury home on 2.5 acres of land backing onto Mount Coot-tha Forest.

Neighbour Andrew Offen described the neighbourhood as “communal” and “friendly”.

“Everyone on this leg of the street has lived here 10 years plus … except for [the crime scene property],” he said.

“It’s a perfect place to live, really.”

Mr Vandenbroucke has lived in the area for almost three decades. (ABC News: Erin Byrnes)

Dirk Vandenbroucke, who has lived in the neighbourhood for 27 years, said he did not realise there were temporary tenants at the property.

“[We didn’t hear] much until there was a lot of [police] activity in the street,” he said.

“Then we were told something serious happened.”

Police are appealing for anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward.

Police are investigating the sudden deaths of a mother and daughter whose bodies were found at an Airbnb-listed…

[2
43,115717,44,94,701,4106,41,39,42,40
post-179688","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-headlines","tag-headlines","tag-kenmore-hills","tag-news","tag-qld","tag-queensland","tag-queensland-police","tag-top-news","tag-top-stories","tag-topnews","tag-topstories
["GET
