West Coast has put forward a three-year offer to out-of-contract Richmond defender Tylar Young<\/a> in the hope of luring him west.<\/p>\n

Young has taken his time ahead of a major contract call after a much-improved individual season, playing the final seven games of 2025 as he returned from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.<\/p>\n

It is understood that the Punt Road club has offered a new deal to retain the 35-gamer, but according to\u00a0AFL Media’s\u00a0Cal Twomey, the Eagles are pushing hard.<\/p>\n

“They have a three-year offer on the table for Tylar Young<\/a>, who is still weighing up his decision between going to West Coast and joining the Eagles or staying at Richmond, who have also increased its offer to keep him at Punt Road,” Twomey revealed on Trade Radio.<\/p>\n

“The links are there. He has a decision to make, and that’s coming in the next few days.”<\/p>\n

Young spent time with Eagles senior coach Andrew McQualter<\/a> at Richmond, as well as last year’s recruits Liam Baker<\/a> and Jack Graham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Former Richmond recruiter and now West Coast list manager Matt Clarke is also seen as a potential pull.<\/p>\n

Young was drafted to the Tigers as a rookie out of their VFL program in 2022, and made his debut the following year, eventually featuring in 19 games for the season. The 26-year-old has shown strong glimpses against the game’s best forwards.<\/p>\n

He has previously been linked to North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 2025 free agency period will begin on Friday, October 3, while the trade period opens on Monday, October 6.<\/p>\n
