EXCLUSIVE: There were plenty of happy tears as The Block’s<\/a> Emma and Ben<\/a> finally told their parents, siblings and grandparents that they were expecting their first baby.<\/p>\n

But in a moment you didn’t see on TV, Emma reveals in an ideal world\ufeff the family announcement would’ve gone very differently.<\/p>\n

“Our families would definitely, in a normal scenario, be the first to know but our Block family were the first to know this time,” Emma explained.<\/p>\n

Emma revealed why she kept her pregnancy a secret from her family for 18 weeks.<\/p>\n

“We didn’t want to tell our families over the phone, we wanted to tell them in real life,” she said.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t want to tell my mum earlier because I knew that she’d stress out and be calling me. ‘Are you drinking enough water? Are you resting’.”<\/p>\n

Emma said she’d been fortunate enough to not experience much morning sickness or nausea and that the business of The Block had kept her and Ben pre-occupied.<\/p>\n

\ufeff”To be honest most of the time we’ve forgotten that we’re pregnant, we’re just so focused on The Block.”<\/p>\n

Emma \ufefftook a pregnancy test the day she and Ben got the news that they were going on The Block, and of course it came back positive.<\/p>\n

While some couples might’ve felt the pressure to focus on one or the other, Emma and Ben had a very different approach.<\/p>\n

“We thought we’re just going to go for it\ufeff. We won’t tell anyone, we’ll just go with the flow and see what happens,” the 33-year-old said.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t think ever\ufeff I had to choose one or the other. I thought I’d be able to manage both and I’ve been very fortunate that we have been able to.”<\/p>\n

Emma and Ben first announced the exciting news in a mid-episode bombshell in August 2025.<\/a><\/p>\n

“We’ve got some pretty big news, we’re having a baby!” Emma, 33, announced to cameras at the time, while holding back tears.<\/p>\n

“We just found out we’re going to have a boy,” Ben, 32, beamed.<\/p>\n

The news dropped mid-episode after Emma and Ben received an update at 12-weeks.<\/p>\n

“Starting a family, it’s something we’ve been talking about for a year probably, and now it’s happening.”<\/p>\n

It’s not just Emma and Ben anymore, the couple admitted they now have “someone else to win for”. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Emma and Ben have been married for three years but have known each other a lifetime.<\/p>\n

They met at the lockers at high school, had the same friendship group until Year 12, and officially got together in 2011.<\/p>\n

The duo have the most renovation experience of all the contestants this year, having done two houses plus another new build.<\/p>\n

“My aunty flipped houses her whole life, she is probably our inspiration,” Ben said.<\/p>\n

They were 24 when they bought their first house and have been flipping houses and documenting it on their socials ever since.<\/p>\n

Now, they have a new journey to look forward to \u2013 The Block and a baby! \ufeff<\/p>\n

The Block airs Monday to Wednesday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 7:00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now<\/a>.\ufeff<\/p>\n
