{"id":180966,"date":"2025-09-30T21:43:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T21:43:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/180966\/"},"modified":"2025-09-30T21:43:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T21:43:10","slug":"coffee-kiosk-brews-support-for-healthcare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/180966\/","title":{"rendered":"Coffee kiosk brews support for healthcare"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new coffee kiosk at a major Coast hospital is the latest fundraising venture for a local charity.<\/p>\n<p>The Wishlist Coffee House has opened at Nambour Hospital to support the charity\u2019s mission \u201cto provide an even better healthcare experience for patients, friends and families across the Sunshine Coast and Gympie region\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Wishlist CEO Brendan Hogan said the new kiosk was another way to bring \u201ceven better healthcare closer to home\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery cup of coffee purchased will help fund vital medical equipment, patient support services, research projects and family accommodation close to hospitals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a simple way to support our healthcare heroes and make a difference while enjoying a coffee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWishlist Coffee House venues are known not only for great coffee and friendly service, but also for creating a welcoming space during times of health trauma.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-180352\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SCN180925-wishlist-01.jpg-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\"  \/>The Wishlist Coffee House team.<\/p>\n<p>The kiosk opening came just days after the charity\u2019s major annual fundraising event, the Wishlist Spring Carnival at the Sunshine Coast Convention Centre in Twin Waters.<\/p>\n<p>Wishlist raised $327,905 on the day, with $151,000 from the live auction and $52,654 from the silent (online) auction.<\/p>\n<p>The proceeds will go towards the purchase of three vital pieces of medical equipment: a Chromium iX Single-Cell Analysis System, two MolecuLight Imaging Devices and specialised nerve hyperexcitability testing equipment.<\/p>\n<p>The Chromium iX Single-Cell Analysis System ($89,855) allows researchers to study cancer one cell at a time, unlocking personalised treatments tailored to each patient. It helps uncover why some therapies fail \u2013 and how to improve them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-180330\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SCN180925-Wishlist-spring-carnival--scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\"  \/>\u2018Fillies\u2019 at annual Wishlist Spring Racing Carnival on September 12 at the Sunshine Coast Convention Centre. Picture: Wishlist.<\/p>\n<p>Two MolecuLight Imaging Devices ($75,790) light up hidden bacteria in chronic wounds, allowing clinicians to treat infections earlier and more accurately. They reduce unnecessary antibiotic use by up to 78 per cent and help wounds heal faster with fewer complications. More than 400 Coast patients benefit each year from this technology, especially older people with ulcers, diabetes or mobility issues.<\/p>\n<p>Specialised nerve hyperexcitability testing equipment ($46,730) will help medical practitioners understand how nerves connect to muscles.
