\n\tDwayne Johnson<\/a> and Benny Safdie celebrated the red carpet debut of their new film \u201cThe Smashing Machine<\/a>\u201d in Los Angeles on Monday night. But the duo is already planning for their next collaboration: an adaptation of Daniel Pinkwater\u2019s novel \u201cLizard Music<\/a>.\u201d The former WWE star will play a 75-year-old man who is best friends with a chicken of the same age.<\/p>\n

\n\tJohnson has lost a significant amount of weight for the role after packing on 30 pounds for \u201cSmashing Machine.\u201d \u201cI\u2019ve been dieting,\u201d he said. \u201cHappy to not be carrying all the weight. I\u2019m able to tuck in my shirt now\u2026I don\u2019t look pregnant so it\u2019s all good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added, \u201cThink Clint Eastwood at 75. Sinewy muscles, he\u2019s lean. But it feels good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn \u201cSmashing Machine,\u201d written and directed by Safdie, Johnson stars as Mark Kerr, a champion in the early days of MMA fighting who made a career comeback after battling substance abuse. Emily Blunt plays his longtime girlfriend Dawn Staples.<\/p>\n

\n\tBlunt talked about seeing Johnson as Kerr for the first time on set. \u201c\u2019Holy shit,\u2019 is what went through my head,\u201d she said. \u201cI was really staggered by it. It changed the air in the room. Everyone just went very quiet\u2026The transformation seemed like water in the desert. It was so magical.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter shooting the film\u2019s darker, more intense scenes, Blunt said, she and Johnson would decompress by having a drink together. \u201cThere was tequila on set,\u201d she said, adding with a smile, \u201cI love tequila. I need it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn terms of other projects, Blunt and Johnson say they\u2019re ready to hit the rough waters again.<\/p>\n

\n\tA sequel to their 2021 action adventure \u201cJungle Cruise\u201d was announced shortly after the film crossed $100 million at the domestic box office.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI feel like we gotta do something else now. I\u2019m like, \u2018What else?\u2019\u201d Blunt told me Monday night at the premiere of the acting pair\u2019s MMA drama \u201cThe Smashing Machine.\u201d \u201cCall Disney. Get us back on that boat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJohnson added, \u201cWe\u2019re calling those guys tonight. We had so much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
