Aimee Lou Wood has said that she does not regret speaking out over a Saturday Night Live<\/a> sketch that poked fun at her teeth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, a spoof sketch aired that saw Sarah Sherman play a version of Wood\u2019s White Lotus<\/a> character Chelsea, with exaggerated false teeth.<\/p>\n

At the time Wood took to her Instagram Stories<\/a>\u00a0to respond to the sketch, which she described as \u201cmean and unfunny\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuch a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple of weeks ago,\u201d she added. \u201cYes, take the piss for sure \u2013 that\u2019s what the show is about- but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?\u201d<\/p>\n

SNL later contacted the star and apologised for the sketch<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, Wood has reiterated that she stands by what she said. She told BBC News<\/a>: \u201cI don\u2019t regret saying it because it was breaking a pattern, which is what I would usually do \u2013 what I did when I was younger and got bullied.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wood added that on seeing the sketch, she thought: \u201cI have a choice here to go in and be embarrassed about it and just say \u2018I didn\u2019t like that. It was mean\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cNo matter what chaos came from it, I\u2019m still happy for me and my personal journey that I said something.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve gone into meetings with directors that I\u2019ve admired and burst into tears and not been able to say a word and I think that kind of urge is always to correct, to say \u2018I\u2019m so sorry that I just did something messy\u2019 and actually you didn\u2019t do anything wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Wood is set to star in the BBC<\/a> drama Film Club which is set to air on BBC iPlayer<\/a> from October 7 and BBC One the following day (October 8).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the next series of The White Lotus is set to take place in France HBO<\/a>\u2019s Casey Bloys recently confirmed to Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n
