Bristolian deep tech firm Phasecraft has today launched Mondrian, a quantum software platform backed by the government that it claims allows calculations to be done 1,000 times faster than a classical computer.<\/p>\n
A first-of-its-kind quantum software platform, Phasecraft described Mondrian as a hybrid technology that demonstrates how quantum and classical computing can be combined to tackle complex problems.<\/p>\n
In testing, Mondrian was applied to energy networks to discover if it can address the pressing issue of efficiently running complex energy grids amid rising demands and the integration of various renewable energy sources.<\/p>\n
According to the company, early testing has found Mondrian can perform relevant calculations 1,000 times faster than traditional methods.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the launch of Mondrian, we take a major step toward commercial quantum utility, showing how enhanced quantum algorithms can unlock near-term breakthroughs across sectors that face large-scale optimisation problems,\u201d said Phasecraft co-founder and chief executive Ashley Montanaro.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re rolling out secure access to Mondrian over the coming month and invite energy, infrastructure and logistics operators to reach out to get involved. \u201d<\/p>\n
The platform was initially funded via a \u00a31.2m Quantum Catalyst Fund award from the British government and was developed in collaboration with the UK\u2019s National Energy System Operator (NESO).<\/p>\n
