{"id":182075,"date":"2025-10-01T08:13:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-01T08:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/182075\/"},"modified":"2025-10-01T08:13:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T08:13:12","slug":"sms-tennis-takes-on-mead-for-third-and-fourth-matches-of-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/182075\/","title":{"rendered":"SMS tennis takes on Mead for third and fourth matches of season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SPOKANE \u2014 The Sandpoint Middle School tennis team traveled to Mead on Saturday for their third and fourth Idaho Youth Tennis matches of the season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mead has always had a strong, organized program and it\u2019s a pleasure every time we can get on the court with them,&#8221; Sandpoint Middle School tennis coach Kent Anderson said. &#8220;Getting the opportunity to compete against major programs in Spokane has been a wonderful opportunity for our middle schoolers. They are developing rapidly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Anderson said his team came to play, noting it was the strongest outing for his Bullpups so far this season. Sandpoint tied in a match against \u201cMead 1\u201d and put together a win in their second match against \u201cMead 2\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Sandpoint rising star Adam Poulsen played at a high-level, winning both his No. 1 singles matches by scores of 8-6.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It wasn\u2019t easy\u2026he played his heart out and was determined to get to every ball,&#8221; coach Anderson noted.<\/p>\n<p>Myelle Jensen also went undefeated, winning two matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. She teamed up with No. 1 singles player, Eva Jannsen, and defeated Mead\u2019s No. 1 team in a match that coach Anderson said felt like a high school district championship.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Myelle was surgically placing shots in the corners while Eva just pounded top spin forehands and backhands at the ankles of her opponents \u2014 really fun to watch,&#8221; coach Anderson said of the 8-5 win.<\/p>\n<p>Finn McDonald was a part of two doubles match victories on the day for Sandpoint, which closes out the season on Saturday, Oct. 11 with matches against Coeur d&#8217;Alene and Lake City.<\/p>\n<p>Sandpoint 5, Mead (1) 5<\/p>\n<p>COED SINGLES \u2014 No. 1 Adam Poulsen, Sandpoint, d.
