\n\tITV<\/a> profits were slashed 30% during the first half of this year. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe broadcaster in the main put this down to a strong first six months of 2024 due to high advertising sales for the men\u2019s Euro\u2019s soccer tournament, but nevertheless the Love Island network still experienced a painful drop in profits that saw group adjusted EBITA fall from \u00a3212M ($287M) to \u00a3142M. Adjusted EBITA margin was down from 13% to 9% for the first six months of 2025.<\/p>\n

\n\tProfit in the ITV Studios<\/a> production division, which makes the likes of Rivals and Fool Me Once, was also down 20% to \u00a3107M, which ITV said had been \u201cpreviously guided due to the phasing of high margin sales being weighted to the second half\u201d of 2025. Profit was in fact up for \u201cexternal\u201d ITV Studios shows for third party platforms but down for \u201cinternal\u201d ITV shows hit by the lack of Saturday Night Takeaway and a big sports tournament. In the U.S., ITV Studios turnover was up 37% driven by Love Island USA and The Voice.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe media and entertainment division experienced the biggest slide in profits, almost halving to \u00a335M. <\/p>\n

\n\tOverall, ITV turnover was down 3% to \u00a31.8B during what was a tricky six months. ITV said the performance was \u201cahead of market expectations\u201d and put the declines in the main down to \u201ca very strong advertising period in H1 2024, driven by the Men\u2019s Euros.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe network announced an additional \u00a315m in permanent non-content cost savings, taking the total ITV group permanent non-content savings in 2025 to \u00a345m. To achieve the total group savings, it said it would take a one-off cost of \u00a340m. <\/p>\n

\n\tContent spend for the full year has also been revised down slightly to \u00a31.23B.<\/p>\n

\n\tITV CEO Carolyn McCall<\/a> said: \u201cITV is now a leaner, more digital business in a strong position to compete and succeed in a changing market. We have the agility and capability to make the most of new revenue opportunities while driving profitable growth, strong cash generation and attractive returns to shareholders.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe added that ITV remains on track to \u201cdeliver key financial targets\u201d next year, with \u201csustained good growth\u201d in ITV Studios and ITV streamer ITVX.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe results come with an ITV sale still very much up for discussion. Reports have connected Banijay and RedBird IMI with a potential purchase of ITV. <\/p>\n
