Love+War on Disney+ trailer from National Geographic \u2013 National Geographic Documentary Films debuted the official trailer for the critically acclaimed film Love+War, a stirring and intimate portrait of Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Lynsey Addario.<\/p>\n
From Academy Award-winning directing-producing team Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin (\u201cFree Solo,\u201d \u201cThe Rescue\u201d), the film tells the extraordinary story of one of the world\u2019s most fearless visual journalists as she captures the raw realities of conflict across multiple war zones while balancing motherhood. Shannon Dill (\u201cFree Solo,\u201d \u201cBoys State\u201d) and Anna Barnes (\u201cLost in the Jungle,\u201d \u201cWild Life\u201d) of Little Monster Films are producers. Love+War will be available to stream on Disney+ starting November\u00a07.<\/p>\n
Love+War world premiered at this year\u2019s Toronto International Film Festival, where it received a powerful response and earned a lengthy standing ovation.<\/p>\n
Critics have hailed the film as \u201cemotional, exhilarating and essential,\u201d \u201creal, raw and deeply human,\u201d and \u201cfascinating.\u201d Most recently, Love+War screened at The Atlantic Festival, Camden Film Festival and Calgary International Film Festival. It will continue to screen at multiple festivals, including Hamptons International Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival, Woodstock Film Festival, London Film Festival and Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.<\/p>\n

Addario has risked her life to capture the stark realities of\u202fwar \u2014 from the Middle East and Afghanistan to Ukraine. Love+War chronicles Addario\u2019s ascent in the male-dominated world of conflict photography. But her work is dangerous. She\u2019s been kidnapped twice while on assignment in war zones \u2014 a cost she must wrestle with each time she leaves her husband and two sons.<\/p>\n
Behind the camera, Addario is torn between her unwavering commitment to the essential work of journalism and the powerful, competing demands of motherhood, grappling with what it truly means to follow your calling when it threatens everything you\u202flove.<\/p>\n

Vasarhelyi is an Academy Award-winning filmmaker known for her critically acclaimed documentaries, including \u201cFree Solo,\u201d which earned an Oscar\u00ae, a BAFTA, and seven Emmys\u00ae.<\/p>\n
She co-directed \u201cThe Rescue,\u201d \u201cReturn to Space\u201d and \u201cMeru,\u201d and she has received honours from Sundance, BAFTA, DGA and Peabody Awards. In 2023, she directed her first scripted feature, \u201cNyad\u201d for Netflix, earning Oscar nominations for both lead actors.<\/p>\n

Chin is an Academy Award-winning filmmaker, National Geographic photographer, and elite climber who has led and documented groundbreaking expeditions for over two decades. He won an Oscar and BAFTA for co-directing \u201cFree Solo,\u201d which also earned seven Emmys, and later co-directed the Netflix scripted feature \u201cNyad,\u201d earning Oscar nominations for its lead actors.<\/p>\n
His recent 2025 release includes National Geographic Documentary Films\u2019 \u201cLost in the Jungle.\u201d His additional work includes \u201cThe Rescue,\u201d \u201cMeru,\u201d and the Nat Geo series \u201cEdge of the Unknown with Jimmy Chin.\u201d<\/p>\n
