On Wednesday, 38 players have been placed on waivers across the NHL, making them available to the other 31 teams in the league.<\/p>\n
The Los Angeles Kings<\/a> were busy, placing 10 athletes on the wire. Among the notable names is forward Akil Thomas. The former second-round pick was with the Kings during the entire 2024-25 season, but appeared in just 25 games, thanks to an injury in November that placed him on injured reserve, as well as multiple instances of healthy scratches. He ended up scoring just a goal and two assists in his limited time of work. It was the most games in an NHL season for the Toronto native.<\/p>\n In 32 games with the Kings, Thomas has scored four goals and three assists for seven points. In 170 American Hockey League games, all with the Ontario Reign, he has potted 53 goals and 50 assists for 103 points.<\/p>\n Veteran forward Austin Watson was one of six Detroit Red Wings<\/a> put on waivers. The grinder was up and down between the Red Wings and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, during most of the 2024-25 season, but was good enough to earn a one-year, two-way contract<\/a> extension with the Original Six franchise. He scored three goals in 13 games with Detroit, while totaling 19 goals and 23 assists for 42 points in 60 games with the Griffins, earning a spot on the Central Division All-Star roster.<\/p>\n The Columbus Blue Jackets<\/a> placed defenseman Christian Jaros on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination<\/a>. This came three months after Jaros signed a one-year, two-way contract<\/a> with the Blue Jackets. Earlier in training camp, the Slovakian blueliner returned home for the birth of a child. <\/p>\n Jaros came back to North America after having spent the last three seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League with Avangard Omsk, CSKA Moscow and Severstal Cherepovets. <\/p>\n Here\u2019s the full list of players placed on waivers<\/a> on Wednesday:<\/p>\n Boston Bruins<\/a>: Billy Sweezey Tyson Jost was the only one of the 22 players placed on waivers<\/a> on Tuesday who was claimed.
