Mikey Musumeci and Carlos Henrique successfully defend titles at UFC BJJ 3<\/p>\n
In the main event Mikey Musumeci unsurprisingly dominated his less credentialed foe in Keven Carrasco, getting the submission and defending his UFC BJJ bantamweight title in the process. Musumeci came out with his hilarious looking Karate Kid stance, before pulling guard and going for his trademark leg entries.<\/p>\n
A few seconds later, and he easily finished with his trademark \u201cMikey lock\u201d or modified heel hook.<\/p>\n
The skill gap was just enormous. Musumeci made Carrasco looked like he didn\u2019t belong in there with him, and if we\u2019re being honest, he really didn\u2019t. They\u2019re understandably trying to build Musumeci up as the face of the UFC BJJ, but he\u2019s already the best in the world and there\u2019s no need for these type of match ups anymore. After going through relatively unheralded foes like Felipe Machado, Rerisson Gabriel and now Carrasco, perhaps it\u2019s a bit overdue for the UFC to get Musumeci better and more credentialed champions that he deserves.<\/p>\n
For what it\u2019s worth, Musumeci called for a rematch and title defense against BJJ legend Joao Miyao next. He would represent a step up and does have the accolades on paper with five IBJJF world titles. At 35 years old though, Miyao has just been focusing on Masters\u2019 tournaments (age 30 and up) in recent years.<\/p>\n
The other title bout of the night was far more competitive, with Carlos Henrique and Matheus Gabriel going the distance with three incredibly tight rounds that could\u2019ve gone either way. Gabriel showcased his nice guard game and had multiple sweeps, but Henrique\u2019s pace, aggression and top game seemed to have served well in the judges\u2019 eyes. In a close decision win, Henrique managed to hold on and defend his UFC BJJ lightweight title.<\/p>\n
Following his victory, Henrique called out Samuel Nagai for his next title defense, who also got a big win earlier in the UFC BJJ 3 card.<\/p>\n

(Photo by Chris Unger\/Zuffa LLC) Photo by Chris Unger\/Zuffa LLC<\/p>\n Cassia Moura, Jansen Gomes, Samuel Nagai win over world champs<\/p>\n In key bouts with potential title implications at UFC BJJ 3, Cassia Moura, Jansen Gomes and Samuel Nagai all took quality decision wins over credentialed world champions.<\/p>\n 19-year-old no gi world champion Cassia Moura won majority of the scrambles and remained on top, notching a big win over a fellow IBJJF champ and ADCC Trials winner in Alex Enriquez. The teen BJJ prodigy remained undefeated in the UFC competition, where she is now 3-0 and looking at a possible shot at the title.<\/p>\n Moura previously has UFC BJJ\/FPI wins over names like Sarah Galvao and UFC vet Talita Alencar.<\/p>\n The top ranked gi competitor in Jansen Gomes looked good in no gi and even used the bowl well to get takedowns and passes. The two-time IBJJF world champion looked fairly comfortable in the new fighting surface, winning not just his UFC BJJ debut, but also taking another win over his longtime rival in Gustavo Batista.<\/p>\n Samuel Nagai also put on a show against his featured bout with no gi world champ Kennedy Maciel. Now 20 years old, Fonacier previously focused on the gi where he won a world title as a teenager and said he only started learning no gi leg locks recently. You wouldn\u2019t know from his performances though, as he now has two back to back heel hook wins in UFC BJJ, both in under a minute.<\/p>\n Aptly named \u201cThe Future,\u201d the BJJ prodigy in Fonacier continues to improve and show that potential in the big stage.<\/p>\n Former UFC BJJ title challenger Andy Varela got back on the win column, with a beautiful back take from standing as he submitted Daniel Sathler in the second round.<\/p>\n Also getting impressive submission wins early in the card were Spain\u2019s Ana Mayordomo and Andy Murasaki. Murasaki dominated until a late kimura win, while Mayordomo followed up her 2025 ADCC European Trials win <\/a>last month by absolutely dominating Shye Lilly at UFC BJJ 3.
