Pic: Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>ASX goes on the offence, up 1.13pc<br \/>\n8 of 11 sectors higher, led by healthcare and materials<br \/>\nStrength in resources, banks and healthcare drive gains<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ASX roars higher, rotating back out of defensive sectors<\/p>\n<p>After playing it safe yesterday, the ASX came charging out of the gate this morning, up 1% by lunchtime.<\/p>\n<p>The market held onto that momentum throughout the trading day, finishing up 1.13% with a very respectable 100-point gain.<\/p>\n<p>A resurgence in the healthcare sector \u2013 led by <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/csl-csl\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CSL (ASX:CSL)<\/a> up 3.85% \u2013 gave the ASX legs, and more gains in resources and banking stocks kept it churning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/race-oncology-rac\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Race Oncology (ASX:RAC)<\/a> also surged 48% on discovering the true mechanism of its (E,E)-bisantrene anticancer drug (more on that below) while <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/clarity-pharmaceuticals-cu6\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Clarity Pharma (ASX:CU6)<\/a> jumped 12% on no news.<\/p>\n<p>The ASX 200 Banks index jumped 1.45% overall. The seven majors added between 0.6% and 1.95% with <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/australia-and-new-zealand-banking-group-anz\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ANZ (ASX:ANZ)<\/a> taking that particular crown.<\/p>\n<p>Crowd favourite <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/commonwealth-bank-cba\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Commonwealth (ASX:CBA)<\/a> was right behind, up 1.65%.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-169845\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Screenshot-2025-10-02-161342.png\" alt=\"ASX Sectors\" width=\"550\" height=\"712\"  \/>Source: Market Index<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-169844\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Screenshot-2025-10-02-161356.png\" alt=\"ASX Indices\" width=\"531\" height=\"733\"  \/>Source: Market Index<\/p>\n<p>Gold futures have outstripped spot prices, lifting again to <a href=\"https:\/\/au.investing.com\/commodities\/gold\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">US$3897.3 an ounce<\/a>. Assays aren\u2019t due until November, but visual estimations pegged one intersection at 0.6m at 70% antimony from 42m downhole.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/race-oncology-rac\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Race Oncology (ASX:RAC)<\/a> has unlocked the true mechanism of action behind its (E,E)-bisantrene anticancer drug. RAC says it acts by binding to G4-DNA and RNA structures and bisantrene is not a doxorubicin-like chemotherapeutic.<\/p>\n<p>Management says the revelation has major clinical and commercial implications and the new information will aid in better targeting clinical use.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/tambourah-metals-tmb\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tambourah Metals (ASX:TMB)<\/a> has $4.5 million total in the bank after nabbing a cool $3 million in a strategic placement with Tribeca Investment Partners. The funding will go directly into the drill bit at Beatty Park South, an emerging gold discovery TMB is keen to investigate.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/taiton-resources-t88\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Taiton Resources (ASX:T88)<\/a> has also wrapped up a capital raise, securing commitments to add $2 million to the coffers in a placement at $0.15 per share.
