LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Rare Books LA returns to Union Station this weekend with a horrific array of antique books – and some star power.<\/p>\n
The annual book fair will celebrate Academy Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro’s new film, “Frankenstein.”<\/p>\n
Saturday through Sunday, you can find 50 exhibitors from around the world showcasing first editions and historical works.<\/p>\n
In addition to books, you’ll also find collections of maps, fine prints, arts, and more. Tickets are available at RareBooksLA.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n Before the series of free weekend talks on Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” and other electrifying subjects, you can also support Los Angeles Public Library on Friday, Oct. 3 at a benefit featuring Del Toro.<\/p>\n Del Toro will share exclusive scenes from his adaptation of Shelley’s 1818 classic horror novel, and discuss making the film with antiquarian bookseller Ken Sanders.<\/p>\n Tickets for the Hollywood benefit<\/a> are $250, and patrons will receive a movie poster, bookmark and a pair of tickets for the Rare Books LA Union Station fair.<\/p>\n Proceeds benefit the Library Foundation of Los Angeles in its mission to provide support to the Los Angeles Public Library<\/a>, including the recovery of the Palisades Branch, which was destroyed in the devastating January fires<\/a>.<\/p>\n For those unable to attend the fundraiser, a Frankenstein Fundraiser ticket<\/a> is also available, which includes two-day admission to the book fair, a movie poster, and a limited-edition bookmark, as well as an entry into a drawing to win a pair of tickets for the Hollywood premiere of the film in October.<\/p>\n Union Station is located at 800 N.
