NBA legend Ray Allen believes the current historic Melbourne Series ‘can be’ the start of more games coming to Australian shores.<\/p>\n

During an interview with CODE Sports, the dual NBA champion and 10 time All-Star, who was last in Australian for the 2020 Sydney Olympics, stated his bold vision for the international game and threw his support behind a regular season NBA game coming down under.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody will say what can\u2019t be done,\u201d Allen said to CODE Sports<\/a>. \u201cYou know, look at an airplane in the sky, \u2029how does that happen?<\/p>\n

\u201cBut somebody has to wear the dream to say, \u2018this is possible.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re (NBA) so adjustable and we can figure it out.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is just logistics. You\u2019re talking about being on different soil, you\u2019re talking about so many great players in teams all over the world and being able to play NBA games on their soil, it can be done.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Echoing Allen’s thoughts were NBL legend and two-time Olympian Chris Anstey, during Friday’s episode of NBL Now.<\/p>\n

“I really hope [with the way the event has been embraced] this will become an annual event, where we do get a different NBA team on ours shores each year,” former Dallas Maverick and Chicago Bull Anstey said.<\/p>\n

“I think the NBA itself sees value, no only in the on-court, but also the off-court growth of some young players in experiencing a different culture – it’s a win-win.”<\/p>\n

The NBAxNBL Melbourne Series continues on Syunday, with the New Orleans Pelicans’ clash with the South East Melbourne Phoenix, live on Prime Video and 10 from 2pm AEDT.<\/p>\n
