Turk Telekom is entering the new season with big ambitions for the second year in a row, but this time with the hope of actually meeting expectations, since it can be said that last season they failed to do so, especially in the Turkish Super League, where they barely secured the playoffs after a lot of struggles. However, in that postseason they pushed Fenerbahce to the limit, and came close to eliminating the team that had just won the EuroLeague title a few days earlier. As expected, there were some roster changes, but the team once again looks highly competitive, especially in the EuroCup, which is weaker compared to last season. In their season opener, Turk Telekom visited Besiktas and suffered a loss.<\/a><\/p>\n

To be fair, visiting Besiktas is currently one of the toughest challenges in the Turkish Super League, and not many teams will manage to leave with a win. Turk Telekom started the game well, but the end of the second quarter was disastrous \u2013 that was when Besiktas took control. Turk Telekom did manage to fight back a couple of times and keep it close, but they could not complete a comeback. It is almost a miracle they stayed in the game until the very end, considering they made only three three-pointers, and in modern basketball it is very hard to compete seriously with such poor outside shooting. The best player for Turk Telekom was Kyle Allman, who actually came over from Besiktas. Strong performances also came from Kristeon Lamar Bankston and Marko Simonovic, while Jaleen Smith underperformed with only five points.<\/p>\n

Just like their opponent in this game, Ulm also began their official season over the weekend, hosting Chemnitz and picking up a win. This will be the 11th consecutive EuroCup season for Ulm, and during that period they had some strong results and memorable wins, so they will once again try to reach the next round. Still, that will not be easy for them. As expected, Ulm also went through some roster changes, as it is difficult for them to keep players who have a breakout season. During the summer they lost Karim Jallow, who joined Virtus, while Justinian Jessup moved to Bayern.<\/p>\n

The game against Chemnitz on Sunday evening was far from easy, since Chemnitz is making its EuroCup debut this year and put up a solid fight. For three quarters the game was almost even, but early in the final period Ulm managed to break it open, building a double-digit lead and holding onto it until the end. Considering the large number of new players, Ulm looked more than decent. That was especially true offensively, where they had five players scoring in double figures. The most efficient was Nelson Weidemann, who scored 21 points, while newcomers Christopher Ledlum and Christian Sengfelder also stood out.<\/p>\n
