Nicole Kidman has filed for divorce from Keith Urban, People confirmed<\/a> on Tuesday. News of Kidman’s divorce filing comes a day after the outlet reported<\/a> that the Babygirl star, 58, and the country crooner, 57, had separated.<\/p>\n

\u201cNicole\u2019s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another,” a source reportedly told People on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe didn\u2019t want this,\u201d the source added of Kidman. \u201cShe has been fighting to save the marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n

TMZ<\/a> was the first to break the news of Kidman and Urban\u2019s reported split on Monday, citing sources that the couple had reportedly been living apart \u201csince the beginning of summer.\u201d Kidman has custody of their two children and is \u201cholding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone,\u201d according to TMZ. Urban, the outlet reported, has moved out of the family home in Nashville and has since moved into a property of his own, separate from Kidman and their daughters.<\/p>\n

A new report from People<\/a> elaborated on their split, with a source revealing that Urban’s decision to move out had served as the breaking point for the couple.<\/p>\n

“Their lives were moving in different directions, and once he quietly set up his own place, it felt like the writing was on the wall,” a source told People, before adding, \u201cIt really hasn\u2019t been a secret in their circles that Keith and Nicole have been living separately for a while now. … People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable.”<\/p>\n

Kidman and Urban were together for nearly 20 years. In a 2019 interview with People<\/a>, Kidman recalled how a sweet gesture from Urban on her 38th birthday in June 2005 solidified her feelings for him, telling the magazine he appeared on her apartment stoop at 5 a.m. holding a bouquet of gardenias.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is when I went, \u2018This is the man I hope I get to marry,\u2019\u201d Kidman, who was previously married to Tom Cruise, said at the time. \u201cI believed by that point he was the love of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair married a year later, in June 2006, and went on to have two daughters, Sunday, born in 2008, and Faith, born in 2010.<\/p>\n

The couple appeared to be in a good place as of June 2025, when Kidman shared a loving anniversary tribute to Urban on Instagram<\/a>. They were last seen in public together earlier that month when they attended a 2025 FIFA World Cup match in Nashville.<\/p>\n

The Academy Award-winning actress, who has made frequent red carpet appearances with Urban at country music shows like the Country Music Awards and the American Country Music Awards, has often gushed about her singer-songwriter husband to the press.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so lucky that I have Keith, who\u2019s just my love, my deep, deep love. That gives me the ability to go and do whatever I have to do because I know where I can come back to,\u201d Kidman told People<\/a> in 2024.<\/p>\n

The \u201cStraight Line\u201d singer described a similar sense of certainty about Kidman being the love of his life in 2020, during an interview on Dax Shepard\u2019s Armchair Expert podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s just the one. She\u2019s the one that I was searching for my whole life, and everything not only changed but had to change in me if I was gonna go that road,\u201d Urban said.<\/p>\n

Neither Kidman nor Urban has released statements regarding their split.<\/p>\n
