<\/a><\/p>\nNegotiations between Brisbane and West Coast could reportedly get tense, as the clubs sink in their heels over which draft selection the Eagles should use to trade for wantaway premiership Lion Brandon Starcevich<\/a>.<\/p>\n According to\u00a0AFL Media’s\u00a0Callum Twomey, the Eagles are hoping to poach Starcevich with their early second-round selection, currently Pick 23, while the Lions are ambitiously targeting West Coast’s Pick 16, which is tied to Hawthorn.<\/p>\n Twomey stated that West Coast wishes to trade for Starcevich, rather than collect him for nothing via restricted free agency, to prevent the AFL<\/a> from diluting their expected band one compensation for departing captain Oscar Allen<\/a>, who will join the Lions for 2026 and beyond.<\/p>\n Brisbane, meanwhile, are hoping to gain valuable points in the National Draft via an earlier selection to help them bid for star Academy prospect Dan Annable<\/a>, who is projected to go inside the top 10 in\u00a0Zero Hanger’s\u00a0mock draft.<\/a><\/p>\n Interestingly, Allen’s signing with Brisbane remains yet to be lodged despite the free agency window set to close on Friday, October 10, and Allen seemingly is an integral part of Brisbane’s retool toward a three-peat in 2026.<\/p>\n The 2025 Trade Period officially opens at 9am on Monday, October 6.<\/p>\n
