This newly activated fiber route strengthens Michigan\u2019s telecommunications infrastructure, improving middle-mile capacity and supporting critical network diversity between major population centers. Communities along the route, including Lansing, Okemos, Williamston, Webberville, Fowlerville, Howell, Brighton, Novi and Livonia, stand to benefit from increased reliability and access. The core focus of the partnership is to expand high-speed internet access in underserved and unserved areas, fostering digital equity across the region. Once complete, the project will provide more than 315,000 homes and nearly 25,000 area businesses with access to Astound\u2019s fiber network, delivering multi-gigabit speeds and paving the way for future residential and commercial internet speeds of up to 10 Gbps. Starting this summer, Astound will upgrade its network, with more than 185,000 homes and businesses expected to have access by the end of 2025. The full complement of 315,000 homes and 25,000 businesses will be connected to Astound\u2019s network by the end of 2026.
