\n New assistant coach Mitch Duncan has touched down in Perth\n <\/p>\n

The West Coast Eagles have welcomed former Geelong premiership player Mitch Duncan to the club\u2019s coaching ranks and after a whirlwind past few weeks, the new coach has arrived in Perth.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After a decorated playing career spanning over 300 games with the Cats, Duncan now turns his attention to coaching, bringing a wealth of experience and football knowledge to the Eagles\u2019 developing list.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been a pretty hectic couple of weeks,\u201d Duncan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne minute it\u2019s leading into a grand final, and the next you\u2019re house hunting back home in Perth. But I\u2019m really looking forward to this new opportunity it\u2019s great to be here in sunny WA.\u201d<\/p>\n
Duncan will take charge of the defensive line, working closely with both emerging and established players including Reuben Ginbey, Harry Edwards, Liam Duggan, and Liam Baker.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a great mix of youth and experience in the backline,\u201d Duncan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m excited to help develop the younger players and build a strong, cohesive defensive unit.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not just about the back six, it\u2019s about defending as a team and setting up the ground well to rebound and create opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Duncan\u2019s passion for player development and tactical understanding made the move into coaching a natural next step.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving been in the game for so long, I\u2019ve developed a strong understanding of footy and I\u2019m keen to pass that on,\u201d Duncan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to learning from Andrew McQualter and the rest of the coaching staff, while also contributing to the growth of our young group.\u201d<\/p>\n
Returning to his hometown, Duncan admits it\u2019s been a bit of a whirlwind off the field too.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s going to be pretty chaotic,\u201d Duncan laughed.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll dive straight into coaching and leave the logistics to my wife.
