Bicycle Network\u2019s Back on your Bike program has received a grant from the Tasmanian Road Safety Advisory Council that will provide core funding to allow the continuation of the program on a limited scale for another year.<\/p>\n
The program has successfully worked with more than 500 participants over the past two years to get more people riding more often.<\/p>\n
If you know someone who needs a hand to get riding again or are involved in a workplace or organisation that could do with some skills sessions for low confidence riders, get in touch: bicyclenetwork.com.au\/back-on-your-bike<\/p>\n
Some of the group sessions we’ve delivered over the years include Reclink, University of Tasmania, TasTAFE, MONA, Farm it Forward, Sisters on a Roll and many councils across the state.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Launceston bike parking remains on hold<\/p>\n
The secure bike parking in Launceston\u2019s Paterson Street car park has not been usable since March but the council can\u2019t say when it will be fixed.<\/p>\n
Launceston resident Malcolm Cowan submitted questions to the council about the lack of secure bike parking, especially in light of the new intrastate bus terminal not providing any parking.<\/p>\n
The response he received is that the council is still considering the \u201csuitability of the assets before undertaking repair and reinstatement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clarence seeks out safer speeds<\/p>\n
Clarence City Council is asking the community what they think speed limits should be on streets throughout its municipality.<\/p>\n
The question comes as the council grapples with how to improve safety on its streets, especially for people walking, riding and driving locally.<\/p>\n
Have your say before 15 October via www.yoursay.ccc.tas.gov.au\/safer-speeds-safer-roads<\/a>.
