You have had your say on the first-corner contact between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in Singapore, and it\u2019s safe to say the vote is split.<\/p>\n

Piastri was left unhappy after Norris moved towards the inside at Turn 3, but made contact with him on the way through as the Briton ended up taking third place at Marina Bay, with Piastri in fourth crossing the finish line.<\/p>\n

At time of writing, with nearly 2,000 votes cast, we can confirm that the results to the question: \u2018Was Lando Norris\u2019 opening lap pass on Oscar Piastri acceptable?\u2019 are as follows:<\/p>\n

Yes: 48%
No: 35%

No clear majority has been reached either side, though \u2018yes\u2019 and \u2018racing incident\u2019 would combine to create a 65-35 split for Norris\u2019 move being unacceptable on track.<\/p>\n

The stewards did take a look at the contact between the two McLaren drivers and decided no further action, and after Piastri\u2019s protestations on team radio, he took a slightly different stance after the race.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought in the moment, you know, obviously, it\u2019s the first lap, tensions are high\u2026 We\u2019re obviously encouraged to share our views on what happened, and I did that, and I\u2019m sure we\u2019ll discuss,\u201d he said after the chequered flag.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve obviously spoken about a number of things. Could things have been better at certain points? Yes, but ultimately, it\u2019s a learning process with the whole team.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very, very happy that the intentions are very well-meaning, if that makes sense. So I have absolutely no concerns about that.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust obviously, there\u2019s been some tough situations this year, and this is another one.\u201d<\/p>\n

Norris added:\u00a0\u201cMcLaren just wants to win every race it can, no matter who it is. So they\u2019re always going to give us the best chance of doing that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure there\u2019ll be a small leniency of like, they\u2019re more and more willing just to say, \u2018do whatever\u2019, you know, \u2018like kids go have fun\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut as a team, you know, we\u2019re very confident and proud that we\u2019re doing things the correct way and the right way, and that\u2019s what we want. That\u2019s what both Oscar and myself are happy with is our approach as a team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Piastri\u2019s World Championship lead over his teammate has narrowed to 22 points as the Formula 1 calendar rolls on to Austin later in October.<\/p>\n
