The roar of Supercars will echo around Mount Panorama once more this weekend, as the annual sporting pilgrimage to Australia’s motorsport Mecca gets underway.<\/p>\n
The Bathurst 1000 is one of the sport’s great events, and the 2025 edition is no different.<\/p>\n
As motor-heads from around the world head to the New South Wales Central Tablelands, here’s everything you need to know about The Great Race.<\/p>\n

When is the Bathurst 1000?<\/p>\n
Action gets underway on the mountain on Thursday, October 9, with a litany of support races starting us off from 6:25am \u2014 so don’t expect a lie-in if you live anywhere near the circuit.<\/p>\n
The first Supercars practice is an hour-long from 12:20pm on Thursday, with a co-driver only session from 3:50pm.<\/p>\n
The action continues on Friday, when qualifying will take place at 3:10pm.<\/p>\n
The top 10 shootout will take place on Saturday at 4:05pm, before the big race on Sunday.<\/p>\n
What time does the Bathurst start?<\/p>\n

The Bathurst 1000 race will start at 10:45am AEDT.<\/p>\n

What is the weather forecast for the Bathurst 1000?<\/p>\n

Everyone’s eyes will be on the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) over the next couple of days, as fans hunt for a clue as to whether the weather could create carnage on the mountain.<\/p>\n
Earlier this week BOM was predicting a shower or two for race day, with a 60 per cent chance of up to 3 millimetres. The temperature will range from a minimum of 4 degrees Celsius to a race day max of 22C.<\/p>\n
Showers are expected on Thursday, with a 95 per cent chance of rain, with 3-10mm expected.<\/p>\n
On Friday, it will be mostly sunny, with just a 10 per cent chance of rain, while Saturday is expected to be sunny.<\/p>\n

The Bathurst 1000 takes place at Mount Panorama, a 6.213-kilometre road circuit that has a 174 metre elevation difference from the pit straight up to the mountain.<\/p>\n
The race is run over 161 laps, making a total race distance of 1000.29km, which I think we can all agree is not quite as catchy as the rounded-down distance of 1,000km.<\/p>\n
The mountain section is the circuit’s most technical section, with Conrad Straight the fastest part.<\/p>\n
