HUTCHINSON, Kansas \u2013\u00a0The UNT women’s golf team on Tuesday concluded the OU Intercollegiate Presented by PDI at Prairie Dunes Country Club. A six-hour weather delay on Monday forced the originally scheduled 54-hole two-day tournament to be altered to just 36 holes.

\nThe cold front played a factor over the entirety of the event for all teams as the Mean Green shot a 624 (+64) and finished in 13th on the team leaderboard. None of the 14 teams competing were even close to being below par, which was set at 70.
\n\u00a0
\n“Prairie Dunes did not turn out how we expected,” said North Texas head coach Michael Akers<\/a>. “The cold front made the course play completely different than what we had prepared for. The good news is the event will be weighted for 36 holes so it won’t hurt us as much if we would have played 54 holes for ranking purposes.”

\nNorth Texas senior Mallorie Luitwieler<\/a> and junior Bouquet Subsomboon<\/a>, who each had a top 10 finish in the season opening tournament last month at the Sam Golden Invitation, tied for 43rd this week as they shot a 154 (+14) over the two rounds.
\n\u00a0
\nThis week 156 total rounds were played at the OU Intercollegiate by 78 competitors. Only three players shot below par in a single round, only one player shot below par in each of the two rounds.

\nThe Mean Green will quickly put this event behind them as they travel to San Marcos, Texas in 15 days to compete in the Jim West Challenge at Kissing Tree Golf Club.

\n“The field at the Jim West will be loaded so we can bounce right back,” Akers said.\u00a0“It is always good to experience different grasses and types of courses so hopefully the ladies learned something from this experience. Kissing Tree in San Marcos will certainly set up better for us.”
