NEWTON, Kansas — The UNI men’s golf team finished 16th out of 17 teams at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational, hosted by Wichita State at Sand Creek Station Golf Club, with two Panthers earning top-20 individual finishes.<\/p>\n
Kansas City and St. Thomas (MN) both tied for 1st place, splitting the team title, shooting a score of 862 (-2), and Kansas City’s own Mason Haley captured the Individual title with a score of 203 (-13).\u00a0<\/p>\n
UNI shot a team score of 904 (+40), finishing in front of Dodge City CC. The Panther men were led by Senior Calen Bishop<\/a>, shooting a 216 (E) to finish in a five-way tie for 14th place. Bishop shot 74-69-73 over three rounds, tying his best low round score of the season with a 69 (-3) in round two. Tanner Dinnebier<\/a> placed in a three-way tie for 19th with a total score of 217 (+1). Dinnebier shot his lowest round score of the tournament in round two with a 71 (-1), tallying nine bogeys. Bishop set a new personal best with 13 birdies in a single tournament, while Dinnebier recorded 11 birdies, both achieving these marks over the three-day tournament.\u00a0<\/p>\n Nile Petersen<\/a> finished in a three-way tie for 74th place with a score of 228 (+12). Petersen shot his best round of the tournament in round two with a 73 (+1) and sank eight birdies. Anthony Lore<\/a> placed in a tie for 102nd place, shooting 243 (+27). He finished strong, with his best round scores of the tournament coming in rounds two and three, an 81 (+9) and 79 (+7).
