Star Carlton<\/a> defender Jacob Weitering has shocked his club in the aftermath of his 200th game.<\/p>\n

In the rooms after Carlton\u2019s 24-point loss to Hawthorn, there was a rollercoaster of emotions<\/a>, as the players dealt with another bitter loss while also farewelling their beloved teammate Sam Docherty.<\/p>\n

But Weitering, 27, was able to briefly lift the mood with his post-game speech taking a surprise \u2018baby\u2019 twist.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd to my close family, my sister couldn\u2019t be here tonight. She\u2019s in Japan with her boyfriend. I love Grace very much,\u201d Weitering said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd to my parents, thank you for everything you\u2019ve done. You\u2019ve been my absolute rock forever. I can\u2019t thank you enough.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd to my wife, Isabel, you\u2019ve been there from the very start. I\u2019m so lucky to have you.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor those that don\u2019t know, we\u2019re starting a family.\u201d<\/p>\n

As teammates, club officials and fans digested, there was a sudden outburst of cheers and applause.<\/p>\n

The club shared a video of Weitering\u2019s speech on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cWeiters announcing this in his post-200 game presentation wasn\u2019t on our bingo card,\u201d Carlton said.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations to Jacob and wife Isabel.\u201d<\/p>\n

Surprises are nothing new for the Weiterings.<\/p>\n

Their wedding in November, 2024, also came as a shocking, taking place five months after they were engaged.<\/p>\n

It has been a whirlwind 12 months for Weitering, who also signed a monster six-year contract extension in October last year.<\/p>\n
