{"id":198832,"date":"2025-10-08T22:26:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T22:26:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/198832\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T22:26:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T22:26:08","slug":"angel-2521-entertainment-acquire-david-ip-set-holiday-film-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/198832\/","title":{"rendered":"Angel, 2521 Entertainment Acquire &#8216;David&#8217; IP, Set Holiday Film Release"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tEXCLUSIVE: Newly public <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/angel-studios\/\" id=\"auto-tag_angel-studios\" data-tag=\"angel-studios\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Angel Studios<\/a> has partnered with <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/2521-entertainment\/\" id=\"auto-tag_2521-entertainment\" data-tag=\"2521-entertainment\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2521 Entertainment<\/a> to acquire 100% of the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/david\/\" id=\"auto-tag_david\" data-tag=\"david\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David<\/a> animated film and TV franchise from <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/slingshot-usa\/\" id=\"auto-tag_slingshot-usa\" data-tag=\"slingshot-usa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Slingshot USA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe partners are forking out $78 million for the IP with Angel\u2019s portion of the investment at about $31 million in cash, its first big move <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/09\/sound-of-freedom-angel-studios-closes-spac-merger-stock-market-1236528120\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">since merging with a SPAC for a public listing<\/a> on the New York Stock Exchange. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe partners have set a December 19 theatrical release for animated musical David \u2014 the biblical shepherd boy who defeats Goliath and inspires his nation. Zero A.D., originally in that slot, has been moved into 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe deal, which settles some outstanding litigation between Angel and Slingshot, also comes with an accompanying five-part animated television series, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/young-david\/\" id=\"auto-tag_young-david\" data-tag=\"young-david\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Young David<\/a>, that was highly popular with the Angel Guild.
