Geelong champion Tom Hawkins<\/a> is reportedly being sought by Melbourne as an addition to the club’s coaching panel.<\/p>\n

The Dees are sounding out the former Cats superstar as being a part-time forwards coach according to AFL Media’s Callum Twomey, with Hawkins weighing up the move.<\/p>\n

Hawkins kicked 796 goals across a 17-year, 359-game AFL<\/a> career which concluded last season and he has this year quickly established himself as a respected voice for Fox Footy.<\/p>\n

Melbourne has interest in getting Geelong champion Tom Hawkins to the club as a part-time forwards coach. His old mate from the Cats Steven King has sounded him out about a role at the Dees amongst his other commitments next year and Hawkins has been weighing it up. @AFLcomau<\/a><\/p>\n

The 37-year-old would be a shrewd addition for a Dees list which is set to undergo significant change in the off-season, with star duo Christian Petracca<\/a> and Clayton Oliver<\/a> on the way out.<\/p>\n

New Melbourne coach Steven King<\/a> knows Hawkins through his previous role at the Cats.<\/p>\n

Livewire Kysaiah Pickett<\/a> led the club’s goal kicking with 40 goals in 2025, but the club lacked a spearhead and have had long publicised issues with their connection going forward.<\/p>\n

The reported interest in Hawkins follows the club holding caretaker coach Troy Chaplin<\/a> to his contract as a member of the coaching panel, despite interest from rival clubs.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Dees are also looking to add 141-game former AFL<\/a> player Rory Atkins<\/a> to the coaching panel as a development coach according to Channel 9’s Tom Morris.<\/p>\n

Atkins is reportedly keen to explore a career in coaching, with the interest in his services following the Dees promoting 2025 VFL coach Taylor Whitford to Head of Development.<\/p>\n
