Chaz Mostert<\/a> has smashed into the barriers at turn two during the first practice of the 2025 Bathurst 1000<\/a> weekend, bringing out the second red flag of the session at the halfway point of Supercars<\/a> practice. <\/p>\n

Although walking out unscathed, the Walkinshaw Andretti United driver was visibly fuming in the car as he locked up the front tyres out of the corner and hit the barriers.<\/p>\n

The Ford Mustang took significant front damage with the speed it rammed into the tyre wall, leaving his team with a significant amount of work to do ahead of practice two in less than an hour.<\/p>\n

Chaz Mostert crashes at Bathurst.\u00a0Kayo<\/p>\n

“Had a small lock, I just felt like I skated,” the two-time Bathurst 1000 victor said when asked about the crash.<\/p>\n

“Obviously in that situation, you keep going down the gears, you’re trying to watch out for the front speed as possible, but the front…even on the pump or the brake, just would not release.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know if I just found one random crack of water in a line or something like that. I feel totally fine. I haven’t really had probably a decent crash in a Gen3 car yet, and I’ve seen some rough ones, so I was bracing for it.<\/p>\n

“But no, the car did its job and the wall up there did its job.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully we’ll get a car back and assess it. And unfortunately, it’s a lot of work for the team that we probably don’t necessarily need for this part of the weekend, but before then, [the car] was reasonably speedy.”<\/p>\n

Chaz Mostert was the first in the Supercars category to find the wall at turn two. \u00a0FOX Sports<\/p>\n

The first red flag for the Supercars category at Mount Panorama was not for a crash, but rather a bizarre timing issue with a blank timing screen that stopped practice for eight and a half minutes.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time the category has battled with the stopwatch, both the New Zealand and Tasmania weekends had timing problems.<\/p>\n

Championship leader Broc Feeney was quickest out the gates while multiple drivers, including the Triple Eight young gun, dipped wheels off the rapidly drying Mount Panorama track.<\/p>\n

At the chequered flag of the first practice, the duo of Ryan Wood and Jayden Ojeda found themselves on top.<\/p>\n

The first crash of the day at Mount Panorama came earlier in the first Toyota GR Cup practice, where Toyota’s Toby Dvorak crashed into the wall at The Dipper.<\/p>\n
