{"id":201137,"date":"2025-10-09T19:33:06","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T19:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/201137\/"},"modified":"2025-10-09T19:33:06","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T19:33:06","slug":"toprak-razgatlioglu-not-thinking-about-estoril-worldsbk-title-chance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/201137\/","title":{"rendered":"Toprak Razgatlioglu &#8220;not thinking about&#8221; Estoril WorldSBK title chance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Toprak Razgatlioglu\u2019s title chance at the Estoril WorldSBK is so remote he\u2019s not even thinking about it, he says.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Turkish rider comes into the Estoril weekend on 10\u201312 October essentially needing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/1043899\/nicolo-bulega\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nicolo Bulega<\/a> to have at least one non-scoring race for him to be crowned champion before the season finale in Jerez next week (17\u201319 October).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Bulega and Razgatlioglu have occupied the top-two positions in every <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">World Superbike<\/a> race they\u2019ve both finished since the fourth round of the season at Cremona, with the exception of only the Superpole Race at Balaton where Bulega made an incorrect tyre choice and finished outside the top-10.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Yet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/news\/1083720\/1\/how-toprak-razgatlioglu-can-be-crowned-2025-worldsbk-champion-estoril\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Razgatlioglu would need to score 36 points more than Bulega<\/a> over the course of this weekend\u2019s three races in order to be crowned World Superbike Champion for the third time in Estoril.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The slenderness of his chances in Portugal means the BMW rider is essentially treating this weekend, the penultimate round of the 2025 season, as any of the previous 10 rounds.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cEveryone is talking about this,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/995265\/toprak-razgatlioglu\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Toprak Razgatlioglu<\/a> said of his title chance in Estoril, speaking to WorldSBK.com.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cBut everyone is just focused on Nicolo [Bulega] because this is motorsport, everything is possible. [But] also this is the same for me also, this situation \u2013 everyone is talking about Nicolo, but also for me it\u2019s the same.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIf I did a mistake or my bike failed, like the engine failed, it\u2019s the same situation, but everyone is talking only about Bulega.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI know, okay, I have a gap to Nicolo, but I\u2019m not thinking about this because I\u2019m not waiting for him to crash or have some engine problem. I\u2019m just focused on my job, I\u2019m just fighting with him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI make a battle and try to win the race \u2013 this is, for me, more clear. I\u2019m just focused on this.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cNico is always a fast rider, and we are fighting this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe will see this weekend in this track because he is also fast, and I\u2019m trying to do my best. I think he\u2019s trying to do his best, but we will see.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI hope we\u2019re fighting and everyone again watches a nice race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Razgatlioglu admitted that he would arrive in Jerez \u201ca little bit more calm\u201d should he wrap the title up in Estoril, but said his real focus this weekend is on winning all three races \u2013 something he missed out on in 2024 when Bulega beat him in the Superpole Race.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIf we win, we are going to Jerez a little bit more calm, but we will see,\u201d Razgatlioglu said.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI\u2019m just thinking about this weekend because I need to win again.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cLast year I didn\u2019t do a hattrick; this weekend my big goal is to do a hattrick this weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The 76-time WorldSBK race winner even indicated he\u2019s a little haunted by the manner in which he lost the Superpole Race last year, with Bulega beating him on acceleration out of the final corner, almost in the same fashion Razgatlioglu was beaten by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/995293\/alvaro-bautista\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alvaro Bautista<\/a> in Race 2 in 2022.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI never forget it,\u201d Razgatlioglu said of the 2024 Superpole Race.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI remember because from the last corner his acceleration was better than me because he used the qualifying tyre [SCQ] in that race, but I didn\u2019t expect that in the last laps he would have more grip than me because I used a race tyre.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI was very surprised at the end of the race because I finished second.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cBut in the long races I rode alone, I made a gap.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cBut in the Superpole Race I was surprised, I never forget that because we almost finished together, a photo finish.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe will see this weekend. He is also trying more than 100 per cent, also I\u2019m ready for that.
