The Hurricanes have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season, with playmaker Harry Godfrey ruled out for the entire season.<\/p>\n
Godfrey will miss the entire campaign due to a knee injury, which he sustained while training with Hawke\u2019s Bay on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old ruptured his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and will require surgery.<\/p>\n
Hurricanes head coach Clark Laidlaw said in a statement that it is disappointing for them and Godfrey to get a serious injury in the NPC and take him out of contention for the Super Rugby Pacific season ahead.<\/p>\n
A utility back who can play both first five-eighth and fullback, Godfrey is a former New Zealand under-20s player who debuted for the Hurricanes in 2023.<\/p>\n
Laidlaw says they will support Godfrey\u2019s post-operation at the end of the month, and he is sure that he will be back bigger, better, and stronger.<\/p>\n
The Hurricanes will announce an injury replacement for Godfrey when they confirm their 2026 squads next month.<\/p>\n
